Planning for your Pet
Please review the following information before considering surrendering your cat. Below, you will find a wide array of free and low-cost tools and resources that serve as alternatives to pet relinquishment in an effort to keep pets in homes and out of shelters. We hope that you will consider one or more of these programs and services as you consider the future of the animal(s) in your care.

I have Found a Stray Cat
All stray animals must go through your local Animal Control office first. Please take the stray you have found to your nearest Animal control to be scanned for a microchip and observed for rabies and other possible diseases.
I have Feral (Non-Socialized) Cats on my Property
There are many local free assistance programs for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), the most humane and effective way to manage the presence of feral cat colonies. For assistance in trapping the feral cats on your property or in your community, contact one of the following organizations:
I cannot Afford to Spay or Neuter my Cat
Low-Cost and No-Cost spay/neutering services are available for strays, ferals, and domestic cats through many non-profit clinics
I cannot Afford to Feed or Medically Treat my Cat
- Food Pantries often carry pet food and even cat litter. Check with your local pantry to see how they can help.
- Local veterinarians offer low-cost vaccinations and other options. Ask a representative for a list of resources.
My Cat has a Behavior Issue that I am having Trouble Managing

Many property owners do accept pets, please search to find a home that will accept your pets before signing a lease agreement.
Doing an internet search for pet friendly apartments and hotels is a great place to start.
